If you are currently looking in to how to be a teacher, here at Thames Primary SCITT, one of the country's leading school centred initial teacher training programmes (SCITT), we offer high quality postgraduate teacher training which leads to both PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) awards. The year-long course provides practical training in schools with a professional training into theories of learning and pedagogy . We train teachers who can work across the whole of the primary phase of education. Thames Primary SCITT offers Specialist Training in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND), English, Maths, Early Years (EYFS), Modern Foreign Languages (MFL), Science, ICT and Drama.

Our secure section provides trainees, mentors and lecturers currently involved with our training programme access to a shared learning portfolio of resources.

The findings show clearly why so many potential teachers train to teach with Thames Primary SCITT, and why our numbers have been significantly increased for the next 2012-13. We will now be training 90 teachers each year, with training centres in Wickford and Southend. Some member schools will also be offering training bursaries to suitable candidates following their successful recruitment to the course. The only individually tailored voice training course in the UK is also offered to our trainees. A recent article in the Sunday Times ('Deepen that voice, Miss Squeaky, to tame that class', 22nd April 2012) referred to what we do. More details can be found on the 5 Voices website.
