Everything that the Education Secretary, Nicky Morgan said in her speech is highly laudable, but what about creative teaching? What about children learning in a climate of care and safety, learning in what Dorothy Heathcote MBE described as ‘the penalty-free zone‘? You can’t disagree with Mrs Morgan but there are some rather large gaps in the vision!
The Cambridge Primary Review Trusts’ report, Mind The Gap, is well worth a read to remind ourselves what holistic education can look like. Perhaps we should invite Mrs Morgan to visit some of our schools who combine this all so beautifully? Just a thought…
